Google has announced new search commands namely the before: and after: commands. These commands will allow the user to search for things according to a specific date. You would be able to use these commands but Google is also testing them to enhance the feature further. How To Use These Commands?
You should know that these commands restrict the searches to specific date ranges in the same way as date range tools do. For example, if you search ‘Election news before: 2019’, you will get all the posts that were published before 2019.
Similarly, if you search ‘election news after: 2018’, it will show posts published after 2018. You can also go specific by mentioning the month and date too, and Google will display search results only after or before that particular date.
How Accurate Are The Results?
Just as all other search results are prone to inaccuracy, using these commands is also not a foolproof guarantee of accuracy. These commands can be particularly useful when searching for relevant news. This is the reason that when searching under the news tab, all the results will display the date on which they were published. However, this won’t be the case while searching generally on ‘all’ tab.
Not all publishers show the date of publication for their posts, and it can be difficult for Google to determine their date. So, it won’t be a wise thing to always rely on the accuracy of the results.
